AGeçmişte başlayan, hâlâ süren durum
Bir durum geçmişte başlayıp şimdi de sürüyorsa present perfect kullanılır. Türkçede geniş ya da şimdiki zamanla ("… yıldır aktif") söylenir; İngilizcede is değil has been gerekir.

How long "ne zamandır" anlamında present perfect ile kullanılır. Cevap for (süre) ya da since (başlangıç) ile verilir.

Eylem fiilleri, süreç vurgulanırken have / has been + -ing (present perfect continuous) biçimine girer.

DDurum fiilleri: -ing almaz
know, have (sahip olmak), contain, believe, exist, belong gibi durum fiilleri süre bildirilse bile have been + -ing biçimine girmez.
