Amust + V1: zorunluluk
Bir şeyin gerekli, zorunlu olduğunu söylemek için must + yalın fiil kullanılır: "-meli, -malı".

mustn't (must not) bir şeyi yapmamanın gerekli olduğunu, yani yasağı anlatır.

Bir şeyi yapmanın gerekli olmadığını anlatır; yapmak serbesttir. Bu, yasaktan (mustn't) çok farklıdır.

must bir kanıta dayanarak "kesinlikle öyle olmalı" sonucunu çıkarırken de kullanılır. Olumsuz karşılığı can't (olamaz)'dır.
