AEvet/hayır soruları: Is / Are + özne + -ing
Şimdiki zamanda soru kurarken am / is / are özneden önce gelir, fiilin -ing hâli yerinde kalır: be + özne + fiil-ing.

CÖzne soruları: What is causing …?
Soru sözcüğü cümlenin öznesiyse (işi yapanı soruyorsa) ayrıca bir özne gelmez: What / Who + is + fiil-ing. Bu sorular çoğunlukla tekil fiil (is) alır.

DDolaylı sorular ve kısa cevaplar
Soru başka bir cümlenin içindeyse düz sıra kullanılır: soru sözcüğü + özne + am/is/are + -ing. Kısa cevaplarda -ing tekrar edilmez: Yes, it is. / No, they aren't.
