Geniş zaman (present simple) her zaman doğru olan bilgileri, kuralları ve tekrarlanan olayları anlatır. Fen metinlerinin en sık kullandığı zamandır. he / she / it ve tekil öznelerde fiile -s eklenir.

YÖKDİL ipucuTürkçede geniş zaman "-r / -ir" ile ya da yazı dilinde "-maktadır / -dır" ile çevrilir: "The liver produces bile" = Karaciğer safra üretir.

YÖKDİL ipucu"vary" → varies (sessiz + y); "decay" → decays (sesli + y). Yazma sorularında en sık yapılan hata budur.
CÖzne–fiil uyumu: asıl özneyi bulun
YÖKDİL'de geniş zaman sorularının çoğu uzun öznelerde fiilin tekil mi çoğul mu olacağını sorar. Arada giren "of …", "in …", "with …" ifadeleri fiili değiştirmez.

Dİlgi cümlelerinde (which / that / who) fiilin uyumu
which / that / who ile başlayan yan cümlede fiil, önceki isme uyar. YÖKDİL'de bu, çok sık sorulan bir tuzaktır.
